Our Trains Our Jobs

Our Trains Our Jobs

The AMWU is the union for train builders.

We represent thousands of skilled trained builders around the country who are employed in one of Australia’s most economically vital rail building industry.

From coast to coast we are fighting to put a stop to the offshoring of our train building jobs and to save our nation’s rail industry from conservative governments that don’t value Australian manufacturing.

We are asking for state and federal governments to commit to:

  • All rail projects to be built and maintained here; no more imports!
  • A long-term, sustainable and efficient rail industry that will provide job security for local train builders.
  • A continuous build over 3 decades and to schedule it to avoid any ‘valleys of death’.
  • A standardised train platform; get rid of different models for different states and maximise efficiency!

We need to keep up the pressure on the politicians in Canberra to make sure they deliver.

We can’t get this done without you. If you’re interested in getting involved in the campaign, sign up below to volunteer.

Let’s grow our campaign and get it out there into the spotlight.

And remember if they’re our trains, then they’re our jobs!
